I don't know if it is socially unacceptable to talk about your friends on your blog.
Because I never really see photos of bloggers and their friends.
But I don't care if it's socially unacceptable because today, dear readers, I'm going to talk about my friends.
I am finishing a long day of work, housework, blog work and at the end of the day, I am overwhelmed with love and joy and thankfulness for the friends God has given me.
Guys..I have GOOD friends.
And I try hard to be a good and intentional friend with the friends that are in my life.
Sometimes it's hard when I have bouts of chronic sickness, but I think that's why I love my friends so much.
Because they don't care that I haven't been able to call them in 3 months because I'm too tired.
They are just happy to hear my voice when I do call.
I am blessed to have friends that I've had since I was 2 years old.
Friends that bring me flowers and hugs when I'm stuck in bed with a migraine for weeks.
Friends who got me a juicer when my jaw was wired shut, so that I could get nutrients into my body.
Friends who got piercings with me, cry with me, laugh with me, skip class with me when I have black eyes, dream with me, encourage me, make me gluten free birthday cake on my birthday..
Friends who (hopefully) know how much they mean to me because I try to tell them as much as I can.
The older I get the more I realize that you have to be intentional with friendships.
Really, this is a trait my husband has always had and I have always admired this about him. He is a GOOD and intentional friend to his friends.
In High School and College it was easy to make friends, because you were in an environment where all you did was hang out and dream dreams and have LOTS of fun.
But as we get older we all go our separate ways , we move across the country for jobs, we get married and have kids , and get plugged into different communities.
And in all of that you have to be intentional.
I was in brownies. You remember, right?
If you got through brownies, you got to be a girl scout. (I never made it that far).
But we sang this song, "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold."
I have a lot of golden friends (and some silver friends who feel like golden friends:), and I am so SO thankful for them!
What about you? Do you have golden friendships in your life?
(as I was looking through my photos, I realized that I don't have any photos of recent friends that mean so much to me. .soo that needs to happen soon!)

This is a great post about your friends :) They all seem like great people. Good friends are precious!
ReplyDeleteI sure enjoyed all these happy pics with friends... they are all precious people.
ReplyDeleteI need to work harder at maintaining my intentional friends. One of my friends just gave birth and I have known her since kindergarten and I really need to see her. Thank you for reminding me that I need to try harder.
